We pour Newby, one of the world's most awarded tea houses. It is owned by a foundation, so the profit behind your pot goes to schools and hospitals rather than shareholders.
In most cafés, tea is what you order when you are not ordering coffee. We wanted ours to be the reason someone sits down.
Newby leaves are hand picked at peak season and reach their preservation centre within days, kept cool and dry so the aroma stays in the leaf.
Newby is substantially owned by the N. Sethia Foundation, a registered charity in the United Kingdom.
It funds a centre in Gurgaon that supports more than 1,000 children and women every day, an autism centre in Cambridge, and 2.2 tonnes of tea sent to hospitals in Ukraine.
We are not asking you to buy tea out of sympathy. The tea is lovely on its own. The money simply goes somewhere sensible afterwards.
We steep whole Newby leaves in cold water for more than 8 hours. No heat, no sugar, no concentrate. Cold water never gets warm enough to release what turns tea bitter, so what comes out is sweeter and rounder than iced tea. We are the first café in Singapore to do this with Newby tea leaves.

Our cold brew comes in plastic. We serve a tea company that took plastic out of its tea bags, so we know exactly how that reads.
Glass breaks in a bag and cartons hide the colour of the tea. For now the bottle stays, so we take it back instead. Please do pass us back our bottles so we can recycle it.
Since end of 2024, we have been recycling our bottles.

A pot, a plate, a table by the window. No rush, no reason needed.
For anyone who wants the detail behind what we just said.
Newby was founded in 2000 by Nirmal Sethia, a master tea taster who set out to bring fine tea back to the table. Leaves are hand picked at peak season and reach the preservation centre in Kolkata within days of harvest, where temperature and humidity are held steady so the aroma stays in the leaf.
Every batch is screened by Eurofins, an independent laboratory, across more than 600 pesticide substances. Fluoride levels are researched every year. The tea bags and silken pyramids contain no plastic at all and are made from wood pulp, abaca and corn starch, so they can go in a home compost bin.
Newby's preservation and packing centre in Kolkata runs carbon neutral, with rooftop solar panels providing half of its energy.
Newby is substantially owned by the N. Sethia Foundation, a registered charity in the United Kingdom. It works across four areas.
Some of what that has funded: Harmony House in Gurgaon, which supports more than 1,000 children and women every day, the Chitra Sethia Autism Centre in Cambridge, and 2.2 tonnes of tea sent to hospitals in Ukraine in 2022.
